[English text below] Artotel Thamrin telah hadir di kawasan Menteng, Jakarta Selatan, sejak 2012. Setelah beroperasi selama 14 tahun, hotel ini masih menjadi salah satu destinasi yang banyak dikunjungi dan diminati oleh khalayak umum. Hotel ini dirancang oleh Aboday dengan pendekatan desain yang menonjolkan hubungan antara arsitektur dan seni. Karakter tersebut juga terlihat melalui kolaborasi dengan sejumlah seniman yang terlibat dalam perancangan hotel.

Secara konsep, Artotel Thamrin mengusung Tricycle Concept Balance—seni kontemporer, arsitektur, dan hospitality. Tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sebuah hotel, bangunan ini juga didesain sebagai creative hub, dengan konsep yang menggabungkan hospitality dan open gallery. Artotel Thamrin memiliki 6 lantai utama yang terdiri dari tiga tipe unit kamar—Studio 20, Studio 25, dan Studio 40—dengan total 107 ruangan. Sementara itu, di lantai 7 yang berada di bagian paling atas, terdapat BART (Bar at the Rooftop), sebuah bar spot yang dibuka untuk umum.

Saat mengunjungi Artotel Thamrin, seni kontemporer dapat langsung terlihat. Melalui kolaborasi dengan seniman Darbotz, karya seni berjudul “Monster Goes Out at Night” berhasil memenuhi salah satu urban canvas facade yang ada di Jakarta secara 360 derajat. Menariknya, konsep ‘bangunan sebagai kanvas’ ini tidak berhenti hanya pada fasad bangunan.

Pada lantai dasar—yang terdiri dari lobi dan restoran—terdapat karya Eddie Hara yang membawa gaya visual bebas dan penuh warna (pop-art). Di lantai dua terdapat karya Ykha Amelz, seorang seniman perempuan yang menghiasi lantai ini dengan ilustrasi karakter dinosaurus miliknya. Lantai tiga dirancang oleh Zaky Arifin dengan karya grafis monokromatik menggunakan media kapur. Lalu, lantai empat dihiasi oleh karya Oky Rey Montha, lantai lima oleh Wisnua Auri, dan lantai 6 serta area rooftop oleh Ryan Tandya.

Tidak hanya itu, Artotel Thamrin juga memiliki Artspace yang dirancang oleh Andra Matin. Berada di lantai mezanin, area ini menampilkan pameran secara bergilir dari berbagai seniman Indonesia.

Tangga pun tidak luput menjadi bagian dari karya seni dalam Artotel Thamrin. Tangga memutar tersebut bahkan disebut sebagai sculptural circulation. Elemen arsitektur setinggi 6 lantai ini memadukan beton sebagai struktur utama dan kayu pada setiap anak tangga. Kehadirannya menjadi salah satu focal point utama yang turut membentuk identitas hotel dan dapat terlihat dari luar bangunan. (flw)

Artotel Thamrin

Artotel Thamrin has been part of the Menteng area in South Jakarta since 2012. After 14 years of operation, the hotel remains a popular destination that continues to attract visitors. The hotel was designed by Aboday with a design approach that highlights the relationship between architecture and art. This character is also reflected in its collaborations with several artists involved in the hotel’s design.

Conceptually, Artotel Thamrin embraces the Tricycle Concept Balance—contemporary art, architecture, and hospitality. More than just a hotel, the building was also designed as a creative hub, combining hospitality with an open gallery concept. Artotel Thamrin has six main floors comprising three types of rooms—Studio 20, Studio 25, and Studio 40—with a total of 107 rooms. Meanwhile, the seventh and topmost floor houses BART (Bar at the Rooftop), a bar open to the public.

Upon entering Artotel Thamrin, contemporary art is immediately visible. Through a collaboration with artist Darbotz, the artwork titled “Monster Goes Out at Night” covers one of Jakarta’s urban canvas facades across its entire 360-degree surface. Interestingly, the concept of the ‘building as a canvas’ does not stop at the building’s facade.

On the ground floor—which comprises the lobby and restaurant—visitors can find the work of Eddie Hara, featuring a free-flowing and colorful visual style (pop art). The second floor features works by Ykha Amelz, a female artist who fills the floor with illustrations of her own dinosaur characters. The third floor was designed by Zaky Arifin with monochromatic graphic works using chalk as the medium. The fourth floor is adorned with works by Oky Rey Montha, the fifth floor by Wisnua Auri, and the sixth floor and rooftop area by Ryan Tandya.

Artotel Thamrin also has an Artspace designed by Andra Matin. Located on the mezzanine level, the space hosts rotating exhibitions featuring works by various Indonesian artists.

The staircase is also incorporated as part of the artwork within Artotel Thamrin. The curved staircase is referred to as sculptural circulation. Standing six floors high, this architectural feature combines concrete as its main structural material with wood for each step. Its presence becomes one of the hotel’s main focal points, contributing to its identity while remaining visible from outside the building. (uci)
