Taro House

Ruang keluarga menjadi pusat aktivitas rumah.

(uci)

Taro House

Taro House is located in South Tangerang, Indonesia, on a 259 m² plot with a building area of 225 m². The design concept originated from the idea of creating two building masses with different orientations, adapting to the corner-lot position. The house features two facades: the main facade faces west, while the side facade faces north. At the front, a green area with trees serves as an integral part of the home.

The house combines tropical architecture with the Japandi concept. Its simple geometric form and gable roof with two height orientations create a distinct look. This roof design also addresses the tropical Indonesian climate. With a slope of 25-35 degrees, the roof effectively channels rainwater and reduces heat.

The family room serves as the heart of the house. Positioned in the middle of the garden and surrounded by two glass walls, it seamlessly integrates with the surrounding greenery. Most other rooms, except the guest bedroom, are on the second floor. The airflow system is designed efficiently with openings on almost every side of the house. Large windows and skylights maximize natural lighting, while the front, side, and back yards act as cross-ventilation zones and additional green spaces.

The facade combines exposed brick, cement finishes, and wooden elements, giving the building a natural aesthetic. Gray, brown, and black tones blend with the greenery, creating a harmonious exterior. The interior is dominated by white and brown tones, complementing the Japanese interior concept. Functional furniture, such as a TV stand integrated into the staircase, enhances interior space efficiency.

Taro House exemplifies an ideal tropical home for Indonesia. Its design not only responds to the climate and surroundings but also prioritizes spatial function and the comfort of its occupants. (uci)
