Atelier Cosmas Gozali

[English text below] Cosmas Damianus Gozali menyelesaikan pendidikan arsitekturnya di Technische Universitat Wien, Vienna, Austria pada tahun 1992. Ia lahir di Jakarta, 1966, dan sempat bekerja di dua biro arsitek Austria, yaitu Atelier Karl Mang (1990) dan Atelier Reinhard Geiselmen (1990-1992). Sekembalinya ke Indonesia, ia mendirikan Architelier (PT Archindo Ciptakreatif) di tahun 1992, yang kemudian berganti nama jadi Atelier Cosmas Gozali (PT Arya Cipta Graha), tahun 2005.

Selain berprofesi di dunia arsitektur, karena jiwa seninya, Cosmas Gozali juga menjadi exhibitor director dan kurator dalam pameran, seni, dan arsitektur, baik tingkat nasional maupun internasional. Ia pernah menjadi exhibitor director pameran CASA Indonesia, berturut-turut tahun 2015 sampai 2018. Lalu sebagai kurator dan desainer pada pameran Italian Design Day Second Edition (2018), Italian Design Day Exhibition (2017), dan ASEAN Master Craft Exhibition di Filipina (2016). Cosmas Gozali pernah menjadi pembicara di ajang Symposium Smart City di Berlin, Jerman (2013).

Setelah 20 tahun berkiprah di dunia arsitektur, pada tahun 2012 Cosmas Gozali Alfa Indah House / Jakarta Denpasar Residence / Bali www.aryacipta.com meluncurkan buku berjudul Soul of Space, yang berisi kumpulan 25 proyek terpilih.

Atelier Cosmas Gozali memiliki ciri desain yang eksploratif dengan tampilan modern, futuristik, dan kontemporer, namun tetap mengangkat nilai lokal. Selain tersebar di banyak kota di dalam negeri, hasil karyanya ada di mancanegara, yakni Singapura dan India.

Beberapa proyek terbangun dari biro ini pernah memperoleh penghargaan, di antaranya Ganesha House (IAI Awards 2002 Kategori Rumah Tinggal), Opera House di Jakarta (ICI Award 2002 Kategori Rumah Tinggal), Origami House di Bandung (ICI 2002 Award Kategori Rumah Tinggal), dan Swiss Ambassador Residence (IAI Jakarta Awards 2003 Kategori Konservasi Gedung Lama). Atelier Cosmas Gozali juga aktif mengikuti sayembara, salah satu pencapaiannya adalah Juara 3 desain Stadion Sepakbola di Taman BMW Jakarta (Sayembara IAI Tahap 1).

Karyanya juga kerap tampil dalam pameranpameran desain dan arsitektur, salah satunya, Capsule of Hope yang dipamerkan di Venice Architecture Biennale “Reporting from the Front”, Italia (2016) dan di Salone Del Mobile- Milan Design Week (2018). Atelier Cosmas Gozali juga sering berpartisipasi dalam pameran seni instalasi, antara lain, CASA (2013-2018), ICAD (2016), Vico Magistretti-Travelling Archive (2016), dan sebagai perwakilan Indonesia untuk Maxxi Alcantara Project Local Icons: East meet West di Museum Maxxi, Roma, Italia (2015).

Cosmas Damianus Gozali graduated from Architecture major at Technische Universität Wien, Vienna, Austria, in 1992. He was born in Jakarta, 1966, and had worked at two architectural firms in Austria, such as Atelier Karl Mang (1990) and Atelier Reinhard Geiselman (1990-1992). After returning to Indonesia, he established Architelier (PT. Archindo Ciptakreatif) in 1992, then renewed its name to Atelier Cosmas Gozali (PT Arya Cipta Graha), in 2005 until the present.

Parallel with practicing architecture, due to his sense of art, Cosmas Gozali was also active as the exhibitor director and curator on art and architecture exhibitions, locally and internationally. He was also the exhibitor director of CASA Indonesia exhibition from 2015 to 2018. He was a curator at Italian Design Day Second Edition Exhibition (2018), Italian Design Day Exhibition (2017), and ASEAN Master Craft Exhibition in the Philippines (2016). Cosmas Gozali also became a speaker in Symposium Smart City in Berlin, Germany (2013).

With over 20 years of practice in the architecture realm, in 2012 Cosmas Gozali released a book entitled Soul of Space, which contained 25 of his chosen projects.

Atelier Cosmas Gozali always explores modern, futuristic, and contemporary design without separating themselves from local values. Their works distributed in many cities both in Indonesia and abroad, such as in Singapore and India.

Some of their works have received honors and awards, such as Ganesha House (IAI Awards 2002 for Residential Category), Opera House, Jakarta (ICI Awards 2002 for Residential Category), Origami House, Bandung (ICI 2002 Award for Residential Category), and Swiss Ambassador Residence (IAI Jakarta Awards 03 for Preservation Category). Atelier Cosmas Gozali also participated in design competitions frequently. One of his achievements is winning the 3rd Prize Award for Sunter BMW International Stadium Competition.

Their works also appeared on several design and architecture exhibitions, such as Capsule of Hope that was displayed at Venice Architecture Biennale “Reporting from the Front”, Italy (2016), also participating at Salone Del Mobile-Milan Design Week (2018). Aside from architecture exhibitions, Atelier Cosmas Gozali also appeared frequently on installation art exhibitions, such as Italian Design Day Second Edition (2018), CASA (2013-2018), ICAD (2016), Vico Magistretti-Travelling Archive (2016), ASEAN PAVILION-ASEAN MASTER CRAFT EXHIBITION in Philippines (2016), and a representative of Indonesia for Maxxi Alcantara Project “Local Icons : East meet West” at Maxxi Museum, Rome, Italy (2015).
