Tamara Wibowo Architects

[English text below] Tamara Wibowo lahir di Semarang, 1980, dan meraih Bachelor of Science bidang Arsitektur dari University of Minnesota, Amerika Serikat (AS) tahun 2003. Ia mendapat gelar Master of Architecture dari universitas yang sama, tahun 2005, dengan menyandang penghargaan tesis terbaik. Lama tinggal di AS, Tamara berkesempatan bekerja di biro-biro arsitektur di sana, yakni Hammel Green And Abrahamson (2005- 2006), Ellerbe Becket (2006-2007), Vincent James Associates Architects (2007-2008), dan Snow Kreilich Architects (2008-2011). Pada Oktober 2015, ia mendirikan Tamara Wibowo Architects, di Semarang.

Karya-karyanya berprinsip sustainable design, menghilangkan batas antara ruang dalam dan ruang luar, juga menjadikan pencahayaaan dan sirkulasi udara sebagai jantung dalam setiap karyanya. Dalam proses mendesain, ia lebih mengutamakan pengalaman ruang dan fenomena dari permainan ruang. Beberapa karyanya antara lain The Duplex, S12A House, dan ES House, semua di Semarang, juga Porous House di Jakarta. Salah satu karyanya, Bukit Kopi Residence, pernah diulas di Design Anthology, issue 18 (The Indonesia Edition) dan laman Dezeen.

Bukit Kopi Residence, Semarang

Tamara Wibowo was born in Semarang in 1980 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture at the University of Minnesota, US, and graduated in 2003. She also received a master’s degree in Architecture from the same university in 2005 and was honored for her outstanding thesis. Having lived for a while in the US, she had the opportunity to work in numerous architecture firms there, namely Hammel Green and Abrahamson (2005-2006), Ellerbe Becket (2006-2007), Vincent James Associates Architects (2007- 2008), and Snow Kreilich Architects (2008 -2011). In October 2015, she established Tamara Wibowo Architects in Semarang.

By holding onto the sustainable design principle, her works remove the boundary between inner and outer space and use natural light and air circulation. In each design process, she prioritizes space to experience and phenomena formed by space transformation to enrich the lives of the users. Some examples of her works are Bukit Kopi Residence (Semarang), Porous House (Jakarta), The Duplex (Semarang), S12A House (Semarang), and ES House (Semarang). A number of her works have been featured in architectural publications. One of them, Bukit Kopi Residence, was reviewed in Design Anthology, issue 18 (The Indonesia Edition) and the Dezeen page.
