Roca Launches a New Program for Creative Professionals

Tuesday, November 27, 2018, Roca, a company that focuses on design, production, and commerce of sanitary and bathroom products, held a launch event in Fairmont Jakarta. Roca took this opportunity to introduce their new product line, Roca Smart Toilet, as well as exhibiting their view on the future of bathroom through Next Bath Experience. A new program by Roca which became the spotlight of the launch event is “jumpthegap (talk)”.

The launch event began by the introduction of Roca’s profile, programs, and products as Emilio Ferrer, the Operation Director of Roca Indonesia, Xavier Torras, the Brand and Communication Director of Roca Indonesia, and Novita Dewi, the Marketing Manager of Roca Indonesia, took the stage. Also acting as the Director of We Are Water Foundation, Xavier Torras talked about their cause to help regions with water resource and sanitation issues.

During the event, Nuria Vall-Ilovera as Roca’s Brand Communication Manager and Manager of jumpthegap gave some explanation on how Roca aims to help young designers to develop their design skill through a design competition. Held every year, jumpthegap is on its 8th installment as Roca International Design Contest. A distinct change on this year’s annual competition is the new program jumptegap (talk) as an integral part of the competition. Through this talk show program, knowledge of architecture and design are shared, along with a trend forecasting of both topics on each country they visit.

The first jumpthegap (talk) in Indonesia invited two speakers including Nuria Ayala of Office Architecture of Barcelona (OAB) and Ary Indra of ABODAY, as well as Agatha Carolina of Bitte Design Studio as the moderator. While Nuria Ayala presented architectural projects by OAB, Ary Indra discussed the bathrooms of creative people, especially architects, in Indonesia. To those people Ary introduced in his presentation, a bathroom is not only an intimately private room but also a space to contemplate and find inspiration.

The launch event by Roca in Jakarta is hoped to build better collaboration between the brand and architects as well as other creative professionals. This event also marks a welcome to all designers who wish to join the jumpthegap competition. More information about jumpthegap can be found here.
